It has just been revealed by Japanese magazine V-Jump, that the PSP exclusive Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, is going to include an all new co-operative and multiplayer game modes playable via the PSP Ad-hoc mode.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is an all new action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix, exclusively for the PSP.  It is the next installment in the Kingdom Hearts series that focuses on Terra, Ventus and Aqua.   Characters briefly featured in Kingdom Hearts II.  Birth by Sleep is a prequel to the first Kingdom Hearts game, taking place ten years before the former and features many previously unexplained plot elements from the original Kingdom Hearts series.

In Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, up to 3 players will be able to link their PSP systems together and battle in a special world known as the Mirage Arena.  The arena features computer terminals that will then allow players to select special co-op levels or replay bosses with more than one player.

Co-Op alters the gameplay somewhat, as there will be unique commands for players to use in the Mirage Arena, including the ability to cast positive spells on their friends to help cure them and more.  Each player wears different colored armor in order to distinguish between one another.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is scheduled for release in Japan exclusively for the PSP this winter, with a North American release date yet to be announced.

We will learn more on Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep at this week’s Tokyo Game Show, which takes place on September 24th through September 27th.
