Metroid Prime Producer Talks About Future Prime Features

The word future is the key phrase in that title.

With the Wii release of the Metroid Prime: Trilogy now well in the past one may expect the Metroid Prime news to drift off.  It’s not happening.  Series producer Kensuke Tanabe recently spoke with Kotaku, and mentioned possible features that the developers “keep considering” for the Prime series.

“As all I take part in is the Prime series, I am not capable of commenting on the whole Metroid series. But we will keep considering multiplayer for the Prime series. For instance, I think I can come up with some unique ideas using the Morph Ball, which is a specific skill of Samus.”

Retro Studios released the first hit title in the Metroid Prime trilogy (or is it quadrilogy?!) exclusively for the Gamecube way back in 2002.  Following the title’s critical and commercial success was Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, also for the little box with a handle.  Three years later and the series seemingly wrapped up on the Wii with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Certainly sounds like the series didn’t conclude with 2007’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Wii, as many assumed.
