Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has revealed that the next Zone of the Enders sequel will be coming sometime in the future.
Posting on the studio’s official blog, Kojima revealed that he blames himself for the poor sales of Zone of the Enders 2.
“Everything was due to an error by me, the producer,” said Kojima. “At that time, if I hadn’t made a mistake with the release date, Zone of the Enders 2 might have ended up a major Kojima Productions title to follow MGS, still seeing development as a series.”
He also added: “We’d like to make a Zone of the Enders 2 sequel at some point. Also, we feel that if we do it, we’d like to make Zone of the Enders succeed this time. I already have a game plan and method for sales in my head. However, we don’t know if it will be green lighted. The production lines within Kojima Productions are currently full.”
While he does not announce when it will be released, he does promise that a sequel is on the way.
In the meantime Kojima Productions is currently working on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PSP), Metal Gear Solid: Rising (PS3/Xbox 360) and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
I really loved the first Zone of Enders. It had a basic storyline of a child “chosen one” that saves his people but it had a classy style and unfolded eloquently. I am really looking forward to this sequel…
