D3Publisher picks up publishing rights from North American release of the latest Blue Dragon title.
RPG fans can rejoice, they will not have to import the upcoming third title in the Blue Dragon franchise. D3Publisher announced today that it will be handling the publishing of Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for North America and Europe. The title is expected to release in 2010.
Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow’s plot will be a direct sequel to the 360 exclusive, Blue Dragon, and the DS exclusive, Blue Dragon Plus. However, Awakened Shadow will diversify itself by offering a real time action-oriented combat system, instead of the RPG/RTS blend that the previous titles had.
In another twist, instead of controlling Shu the title will allow players to create their own hero/heroine for the first time. Players will be able to select the look and gender of the hero, which will allow them additional tactical choices via shadows.
The title is being developed primarily by Mistwalker, with help from tri-Crescendo and Bird Studio. Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow is coming during the 2010 calendar year.
