Back in October, Capcom asked fans of Resident Evil 5 how they wanted to purchase the upcoming Alternative Edition of the game, as either a disc or download. The fans responded and both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Alternative Edition will be made available by downloadable content in North America.
The game which was previously announced for Japan in disk form, Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition focuses on events that take place prior to the story of Resident Evil 5 and allows players to play as Jill Valentine. Additionally, the Alternative Edition adds support for Sony’s upcoming motion wand controllers.
The Alternative Edition will still require the Resident Evil 5 disk to be played so players are going to have to hold on to Resident Evil 5 for the Spring 2010 release, if they wish to purchase this expansion pack. The Alternate Edition will also feature a new mission called “Lost in Nightmares” in which Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine investigate the Spencer Estate.
