Nintendo Discontinues Metroid Prime Trilogy In North America

Metroid Prime Trilogy Logo

Sad news for Metroid fans, as Nintendo has announced that they have discontinued Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii in North America.

When Metroid Prime Trilogy was first announced, Nintendo did say that it would be available on a limited basis, as a limited edition collector’s item.  The other “New Play Control” titles are not subject to this discontinuation, however Nintendo continues to develop and ship those titles.  It is not known if other regions are affected by this as of yet, but more news is sure to come concerning the other regions.

The limited availability likely has something to do with the steelbook the North American version of the collection came packaged in.  There’s no mention of an alternative release or of anymore more “New Play Control” titles.

Metroid fans out there, if you still have not picked up your copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy be sure to pick up your copy while supplies last!

Ouch, I’ve been meaning to pick this up for a long time now. Better pull the trigger lest overpriced copies on eBay become the only option.
