Capcom seems to be interested in bringing more survival horror to the Wii by futhur expanding on the Resident Evil Archives Collection in the near future.
The Resident Evil Archives Collection was released last year with the Gamecube remake of the original Resident Evil which was released in 2002. The Wii version of the original Resident Evil includes all new motion controls using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, as well as support for the Classic Controller. The latest addition to the Resident Evil Archives Collection is Resident Evil 0, which was released in December 2009, but featured no motion controls and did not live up to the hype of the original.
According to Capcom’s UK PR Manager Leo Tan, he says that although they are not ready to announce anything just yet, it’s likely that more of the Resident Evil series will get the Archives treatment: “Although we have nothing further to announce at this time, it’s unlikely we’d need a collective term for just two releases.”
It would make sense for Capcom to release the rest of the Resident Evil games featuring Wii specific controls, which also include Resident Evil 2 (PS/N64/DC/Gamecube) and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS/DC/Gamecube). Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is currently available on Wii, and is considered by many to be the ultimate version of the game. Resident Evil 4 is also available on the PS2 and Gamecube.
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil and Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil 0 are currently available on Wii.
