Thanks to an extended translation of the interview, we have garnered further insight into the upcoming handheld. First off, Capcom and its development staff are playing with a variety of ideas for 3D implementation. Ono specifically mentioned using the 3D tech to fancy up the visual effects. But he mainly focused on what the 3D technology will not be used for, and that’s gameplay. Players will not move around the stage and objects will not be used in some cheesy fashion. He very plainly, and repeatedly stated “The gameplay will be the same as Super Street Fighter IV.”

What we do know is coming is that the game will be tailored to the 3DS control scheme and Capcom is attempting to add some functionality to the second screen. He closed out the interview by stating that the portable version may see some original content. First, the goal of keeping all of modes from the console SSFIV, the 35 chracters and deep wireless capabilities must be meet before extra material is explored.

According to Famitsu, the portable version is only 10% done.

The speculations have been that the 3DS will cost between $250 to $300, but those speculations can come to rest very shortly, as Nintendo is scheduled to announce the release date for the 3DS in Japan on September 29th.

According to reports, Nintendo has said that the 3DS will launch before the end of the year in Japan that is. It is not known if Nintendo will also provide information regarding the North American release date and price, as Nintendo has said that the system will launch in North America on or before March 2011.

With the announcement of the Japanese price and release date, it will give us gamers here in North America an idea of how much the new portable will go for, when it is released here.

Capcom has been front and center since last week at Comic-Con with their huge announcement of Street Fighter X Tekken, coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While Capcom is now currently working on Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/360) for the 3DS, producer of the game Yoshinori Ono has revealed why Capcom chose to bring the game to the 3DS, instead of the PSP and current DS.

In a recent an interview with popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Ono said that although Capcom looked at the PSP and DS, the current generation of handhelds couldn’t do justice to the title. Yoshinori Ono said that another reason to bring Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/360) to the 3DS, was the wireless capabilities of the system, allowing players to communicate with each other, which will be an important part of Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/360) on the 3DS.

In addition to explaining Capcom’s decision to bring it to the 3DS, he also revealed a few details about the game. He assures fans that the gameplay will remain the same as Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/360) on the home consoles, and that the game won’t be toned down for a younger audience.

Capcom will reveal more information on Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/360) for the 3DS in the coming months.

Nintendo has been keeping quite on what the official price for the 3DS will be, but according to well known video game analyst Michael Patcher, he estimates that the Nintendo 3DS will retail for around $300 and it could sell as many as 10 million systems at that price point.

Ever since the Nintendo 3DS was unveiled at E3 in June, many have been wondering when the system will launch and at what price point. Many speculate that the system being more powerful than the current DS, will be priced between $250 and $300, not to mention the games being priced higher than current DS games. Releasing the Nintendo 3DS at the $300 price point would make the most expensive handheld that Nintendo has ever released, since the disappointing Virtual Boy.

Patcher says that the 3DS is a revolutionary device as he expects that sales will skyrocket. Sales will not only skyrocket in hardware, but also in software, as we all know that in order to sell hardware you have to have good software in order to drive the hardware. Patcher also came to say that Nintendo will sell out the first 10 million units priced below $300, and that it’s well worth it at that price point.

It’s an undeniable fact, gamers hate waiting. We want the games we want right now, not next year, month or week. Capcom is one of the premiere development companies out there, but the developer definitely keeps us waiting. It was four years between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 (360/PS3), the same for Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 (360/PS3) and three and a half for Lost Planet and its sequel (360/PS3). Capcom’s new plan will reduce the deserts between its key franchises.

According to Nikkei, titles in these franchises should be arriving within two years of their predecessor. Faster development will be accomplished by a combination of outsourcing select established franchises to North American and European studios and hiring additional staff. The goal is to not only reduce the development times, but enable the company to produce three to four AAA titles for respected franchises a year.

The streamlining and rise in production is a direct result of Capcom’s drop in sales and profits in 2009.

Capcom has already experimented with outsourced development. Dead Rising 2 (360/PS3) is being developed by Blue Castle Games, a Canadian developer, and rumor has it that Ninja Theory of England is slated to work on Devil May Cry 5.

As mentioned before, the all new street soccer mode exclusive to Wii will pit 5 against 5 in street wear, with each player featuring their own distinctive style of play and unique abilities. Players will be able to use the wall to jump past defenders or bank passes to teammates. When playing the game in arcade style, players can build up and then activate a power meter to blast shots, ignite a speed burst or send shockwaves over the opponents. Street locations in the game will include Brazil, London and France, with an included indoor facility.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment, along with Developer Double Helix Games have announced the development of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, an action-adventure game to be released alongside the live action Green Lantern film in summer 2011.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is inspired by the feature film, which will bring the popular DC Comics Super Hero to the big screen for the first time, as Ryan Reynolds plays the part of the popular super hero. In the game players will use over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate and iconic weapon: the Green Lantern power ring.

According to said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President for production and development at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment:

“Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters gives players the chance to experience the world of the Green Lantern mythology in an interactive way, going beyond the events of the film and comic books. The game is the first to center around the DC Comics Green Lantern franchise and we’re excited to give fans the opportunity to experience the power of the ring with engaging gameplay.”

Green Lantern: Rise of Manhunters currently in development for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS.
